puppetry of the penis
I'd heard so much hype about The Puppetry of the Penis that curiosity got the better of me. Lizzie bought tickets for the March 1st 7pm showing for us and a couple of other gals. Somehow, we wound up smack dab in the middle of the theater in the front row. The show was an experience, to be sure. 2 Aussie men playing with their bits and pieces in the quest to amuse, entertain, and stun an audience of mostly ladies. In my humble opinion, it wasn't worth the $45 price tag for the ticket. I will, however, say that I really enjoyed the opening act, a local comic named Patty Vasquez. She was a true laugh. The Puppeteers, on the other hand, were a bit alarming. And, we were sitting square in front of the huge projection screen (for the benefit of the "poor souls" in the further reaches of the Lakeshore Theater. Liz put the fear in me that we might be targeted for audience participation. Frightening! Fortunately, this did not happen to us (a less fortunate though lovely woman celebrating her 50th birthday had to come up and help perform the Bat, which was a truly UNENVIABLE spot). Certainly an experience, but not one worth the time or the ticket. If it were a $15 ticket, maybe. But not $45. Unless you are truly, truly intrigued by the idea of watching 2 grown men tangle and tie their penises into grody shapes, I'd take a pass on this trumped-up show. That money would be way more better spent down the street at Blue Man Group.
